Nicholas Jordan Kerr-Carpenter, better known by his stage name guardin, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer from Hornell, New York. He began producing beats at the age of 14, using loops from Looperman and piecing them together in Audacity. By 2012, he had uploaded his first track and started his career as a producer on SoundCloud.
Guardin's early emo influences include Taking Back Sunday, AFI, Hawthorne Heights, and Oliver Francis. He started as a producer and became a singer-songwriter with “Hydroponic” in 2016.
Guardin started touring as a special guest on Oliver Francis' “The Overdrive Tour” in late 2018. He signed with Photo Finish Records in early 2019 but returned to being independent in late 2021. Additionally, he is a member and co-founder of the independent label and artist collective Acid Castle. From the beginning, he has created almost all of his songs and projects on a minimalistic setup, using only a Blue Yeti microphone and an HP Pavilion laptop with a broken screen that he hooked up to a monitor. He stated that he has only ever done five studio sessions; however, he did not disclose which songs or projects they were for.
