Balming Tiger, a Seoul-based music collective, has announced the release of their debut album “January Never Dies” on October 19th, alongside their latest single, “Kamehameha.”

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of global influences, the group’s goal is to represent and reflect today’s younger generation and popularize their hyper-expressive Asian youth culture worldwide. The collective is made up of a diverse group of artists, including performers Omega Sapien, sogumm, bj wnjn, and Mudd the Student, producers San Yawn and Unsinkable, video directors Jan’ Qui and Leesuho, DJ Abyss, visual artist Chanhee Hong, and writer Henson Hwang.

Kamehameha” pays tribute to the Korean drinking game of the same name, and its experimental soundscape simulates the effects of being heavily intoxicated. Produced by bj wjwn and featuring vocals and melodies by sogumm, the track’s stripped-back composition adds another uniquely diverse addition to the collective’s extensive discography. The surreal, cinematic music video and AI-inspired single artwork were created by Balming Tiger’s visual artist Chanhee Hong.

This is the fourth single from their upcoming album, following “SOS” in April, “Trust Yourself” in January, and “SEXY NUKIM,” which featured RM of legendary K-pop band BTS, in September 2022. The music video for “SEXY NUKIM” has surpassed 16 million views and reached #1 on Billboard’s “World Digital Song Sales” chart.

Omega Sapien, a founding member of the group, released his solo EP “WUGA” via LuckyMe last year, featuring collaborations with GRAMMY-nominated producer Baauer, NUXXE label head Sega Bodega, and Vernon of K-pop collective SEVENTEEN. Balming Tiger recently headlined “Tiger Den,” SXSW’s first-ever all-Asian lineup, during the annual SXSW Festival in Austin. The group will cap off their world tour with a performance at the Maho Rasop Festival in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 2nd.
