Dallas-born singer 4Batz has announced the release of his debut EP “U Made Me A St4r” just days after signing with Drake's OVO Sound label.
The announcement was made in a new “From the Block Performance” video of his most recent single “act iii: on god (she like)”, which is a viral series from the YouTube channel 4 Shooters Only that helped launch his career. The video shows Batz and his crew singing along to the song, with a message appearing on the screen that reveals details about his forthcoming project. The message indicates that the EP will be released on April 5th, 2024.
Batz became a breakout star in 2024 thanks to his viral hit “act ii: date @ 8”, which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and has racked up almost 100 million streams on Spotify alone. Earlier this month, Drake jumped on the remix of the song, giving it a significant boost. Soon after, it was reported that 4Batz had signed a deal with Drake's boutique label, OVO Sound. However, the deal is only for one EP, according to Billboard. Therefore, the newcomer may choose to find a permanent home with one of the numerous major labels that were reportedly courting him.
Drake and 4Batz have already linked up in person at one of Drizzy's performances on his “It's All a Blur – Big as the What Tour?” tour. During the show, they were seen dapping each other up and sharing a conversation.
